Architect scales construction project, drops cost to about $7 million

Even with significant cuts to the proposed district building project, South Central Calhoun School District’s school board will need to seek voter authorization.
Ron Speckman, with FEH Architects, brought a massively scaled-back project, that dropped the total estimated cost from nearly $20 million to about $7 million. The project still includes a new gym and student services area at the elementary, another gym space at the middle school and locker room renovations at the high school, Speckman said.
Board member Alan Wedemeyer encouraged fellow board members to make sure the additions and expansions are the right ones for the district.
