Two deputy auditors have put their names in the hat to replace their boss, retiring Calhoun County Auditor Judy Howrey.
Robin Batz and Karen Norine are seeking the GOP nomination to run for auditor in the fall. Voters may cast their ballots at the June 7 primary election.
“I want to continue to provide courteous and friendly service to all the citizens of Calhoun County,” Norine wrote in a brief explanation of her desire to be elected to auditor. “The duties of the office are varied. I am capable of the day-to-day responsibilities of the auditor’s office.”
Norine noted she has completed a 40-hour state certification course to be an election administrator, and has experience in voter registration, administering absentee ballots, instructing election workers and maintaining county election equipment. She said is also proficient in handling the financial responsibilities of the county budget, as well as other entities, such as the townships, cities, schools, emergency management and other departments and organizations. She has also served as the backup clerk to the Board of Supervisors, filling in when Howrey is unavailable.
