Central School Preservation president passes away

Lake City – the oldest municipality in Calhoun County – has lost one of its greatest historic conservationists.
Jim Bruce, the president of the Central School Historic Preservation group, passed away on May 5 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital. Bruce was 83 years of age.
There will be visitation one hour prior to a Celebration of Life service, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 18 at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City.
Bruce was instrumental in providing the early history of the area through co-writing the “Years Ago” and “Central School Remembers” section for the Lake City Graphic and The Graphic-Advocate. Bruce wrote and co-wrote the historically rich columns with Gary Dooley until late 2018.
