Calhoun County employees are looking at a smaller pay raise than last year, based on the recommendation from the Compensation Board.
Cindy Wetter, who represented the Auditor’s Office on the board, made the motion for a 2 percent increase at the Compensation Board’s annual meeting Jan. 12.
“The Social Security (cost of living increase for the year) was 0.3 percent,” Wetter said, explaining her position. “I’d like to be here for the taxpayers.”
A 2 percent raise for the lowest earning county officials, the Board of Supervisors, is about $700. For the auditor, treasurer and recorder, it means about a $1,000 raise. The sheriff would get about a $1,500 raise and the county attorney would get about a $1,700 pay increase.
