A Fireman’s benefit was held Monday, Oct. 13, at the Lake City Fire Station for Chief Mel Alcox who had a terrible fall a little over a month ago causing severe spinal cord injuries. The community showed great support at the soup and sandwich benefit. Chili, Chicken Noodle and Vegetable Beef soups were served along with a variety of sandwiches and dessert bars which was all donated. Fireman cupcakes were made by Heather Snyder that spelled out Mel Alcox and his number. The fireman and family of Mel were very thankful for all the support and concern. It is wonderful to live in such a caring and committed community!
