Calhoun County residents saw gas prices go up slightly over the weekend, as a recently approved gas tax took effect on Sunday.
Calhoun County will get $677,000 in new funding through the tax increase. That will mean an annual increase of more than 19 percent. Before the increase, Calhoun County was set to receive $3.6 million from the state’s road fund.

The bill passed the Iowa Senate 28-21 and the Iowa House 53-46 on Feb. 24.
