Lawmakers consider ramifications of pending water lawsuit

Calhoun County’s new legislative representatives were sworn in Jan. 12, as the state Legislature kicked off the 2015 session.

Rep. Mike Sexton, R-4th, and Sen. Tim Kraayenbrink, R-5th, both issued their first newsletter of the session this week, outlining what they see as the big issues for this year.

A hot topic right now, Sexton said, is the potential lawsuit against Calhoun, Sac and Buena Vista counties.

“It’s very troublesome for us, why (the Des Moines Water Works) went this route,” Sexton said Friday. “A lot of money is being spent on conservation.”
