The Lohrville City Council registered no opposition to a proposed 170-foot cellular tower proposed by U.S. Cellular at a meeting June 13.
The city’s Board of Adjustments had already approved U.S. Cellular’s zoning exemption request for the tower, which will be located at 1306 3rd Street, on the town’s east side. Council members had the option to delay the approval for 30 days if they saw reasons to do so; while a handful of community members attended the hearing June 13, none objected to the project after asking U.S. Cellular representative Pete McNally several questions about the tower.
McNally said U.S. Cellular needed the new tower to improve data access in Lohrville. The switch from 4G data to LTE requires towers operating on a different frequency, McNally told council members. He assured nearby residents the tower wouldn’t generate lots of new traffic on their street.
