Manson looks to the future with vision meeting

Five years from now, Manson residents are hoping to hear their neighbors and visitors talk about what a great place the town is to live.
They want to hear the sound of more children playing, and that they can find everything they need right there in town.
More than 50 Manson residents, from those born in town to those who moved there just recently, gathered Thursday night at the Manson VFW to talk about just what they wanted to see happen to their hometown. This is the first such visioning and community planning meeting in nearly a decade; following the meetings that kicked off in 2008, the city installed new signs on Highway 7 to greet visitors entering town from the south and put up signs directing motorists to schools, city offices and parks.
Mediator Jerry Chizek prompted meeting attendees to focus their efforts, after guiding them through exercises to identify the city’s resources, both physical and personal.
“Who does what by when?” Chizek asked the group. “Can we wait another 10 years to have that type of meeting?”
