This series tells the story of Landon Spafford’s journey through heart surgery this fall. Mother Wendy Spafford continues with part three of the story in her own words below: the journey from ER to PICU, through heart surgery, and safely back home with a pacemaker, where Landon is once again healthy and happy.
On December 8, we had a party, a celebration for Landon and a thank you to our community of family and friends that were with us through this tough journey. Dan had approached me with the idea in November. He is in a band called Henry and the Haymakers.
A very talented group of musicians that get together and play and sing. He wanted to have this party to celebrate Landon and as a gesture of appreciation to our community and family. I thought it was a great idea as we put the plan in place, and the Community Building was available for rent on December 8.
Dan said everyone could bring what they wanted to drink and snacks to share. Of course, mom and I thought we should do a little extra. Grandma Sue made cupcakes, Landon’s favorite, and a couple different types of bars. I decided that we needed sandwiches, so I made maid rites, hot dogs, another one of Landon’s favorites, and brownies.
