Three communities, including Rockwell City, have applied for three spots in Main Street Iowa, increasing the city’s chance of being selected for the economic development program, Calhoun County Economic Development Corp. Director Jill Heisterkamp said last week.
Fort Dodge and a small town in southeastern Iowa also applied, Heisterkamp said during a community meeting June 14 at the Rockwell City Public Library. More than 30 people attended the meeting to learn more about Main Street Iowa, a program run through Iowa Economic Development that brings development experts to communities.
A big goal of the program, if Rockwell City is accepted, will be to create a cohesive marketing plan for downtown Rockwell City, as well as along Fourth Street to High Street and along the commercial segments of High Street.
