Western Days has always had a family focus, Top Rail Saddle Club Vice President Nancy Janssen said.
“Our club was established for families to grow in their horsemanship,” she said. “We’ve had so many club members whose children have gone on to be bull riders and team riders.”
Seeing families come in with their children is Janssen’s favorite part of Western Days, which is in its 58th year this year.
“We want families to come,” she said. “We want this to be an affordable event.”
To that end, the club tries to keep admission and snack prices low, and focus on family friendly entertainment. This year, the club is also distributing cowboy hats to kids as they come through the rodeo grounds gates, on a first-come, first-served basis.
