The influx of kindergarten students and subsequent decision to move South Central Calhoun’s 3-year-old preschool program to Lake City next fall means fewer transportation options for those students.
The SCC board last week approved a transportation plan that ended busing of 3-year-olds in the northern part of the district and 3-year-olds in the southern part of the district who do not have an older sibling enrolled in classes. Board Secretary Carol Collins said about half a dozen people attending a May 14 meeting to see what the district planned to do about transportation for next fall.
“Unfortunately, transportation will not be available if you live on a route that originates out of Rockwell City, because we don’t have time to get (the student) to Lake City,” Collins said May 17, explaining the board’s action.
