SCC graduates 71 in Sunday ceremony

South Central Calhoun senior Nic Englin brought a visual reminder for his classmates at the Class of 2018 commencement ceremony Sunday.
Englin started with a jar containing golf balls. He added gravel, then sand, then poured pop over the whole thing.
“The golf balls are the big things, the really important things,” he said. “Family, friends, your health.”
The gravel represented other things, such as prom, homecoming, part-time jobs, while the sand was everything else, the often insignificant things people worry over.
“Let’s say you put in the sand first,” he said. “Will you have room for the big stuff?”
Don’t obsess over the small things, Englin told his fellow graduates. And don’t wait for perfect timing to do the things they want to do.
