SCC officials express concerns about inappropriate student behaviors

South Central Calhoun Superintendent Jeff Kruse broached a difficult topic at the district’s school board meeting July 18 – administrators have begun discussing how to address the increasing inappropriate behavior stemming from students’ access to pornography.
Just when and how to talk about porn with students – and the district has had children as young as first graders acting inappropriately because of exposure to pornography at home, Kruse said – is a particularly tricky issue.
“It seems more and more, the government, the society, we’re going to take on the responsibilities (instead of parents),” Kruse said. “That’s frustrating.”
At the same time, Kruse said, and several board members agreed, regulating the conversations and behaviors, particularly convincing students to stop sending naked pictures to anyone, is important.
