SCC students celebrate Blue Ribbon

South Central Calhoun Elementary School students jumped, twisted, spun and grooved Friday afternoon as they celebrated the school being named one of just 350 Blue Ribbon schools in the United States.

Principal Nicole McChesney kicked off the party by telling her students about her trip to Washington, D.C., last week to attend a conference with representatives from the other winning schools and U.S. Department of Education officials.

“No wonder they picked you,” McChesney said after a video of photos, compiled by the school’s teachers, extolling the many projects in which students participate and learning practices teachers use. “You do lots and lots of wonderful things.”
