Schools work to increase community outreach

When South Central Calhoun School District officials asked the community for input, one of the areas district residents highlighted as a concern was communication between the schools and parents.
Parent Shannon Stephenson described some of her frustrations with the district’s communication efforts.
“There have been times where things have been slipping on a my kids that have not been communicated to myself through JMC (the district’s online student records system) or email,” Stephenson said in an online conversation with The Graphic-Advocate last month.
She uses the program to review her three sons’ grades. In some area districts, she said, the grades are updated weekly, but that doesn’t always happen here.
