Titan boys take on Wildcats, Warriors

South Central Calhoun’s varsity boys basketball team lost a pair of games last week to move to 5-8 overall as they lost at Humboldt Tuesday, Jan. 9 by a 60-48 final and then lost in conference play to Alta-Aurelia at home in Rockwell City Friday, Jan. 12.
In the loss at Humboldt, SCC led 14-13 after the first quarter but fell behind 30-21 at the half. The Titans outscored the Wildcats 13-8 in the third period to make it a 38-34 Wildcat lead after three quarters of play.
For the game, SCC was led by Jared Birks with 18 points while Zane Neubaum tallied 11 points and Matthew Clark added eight points and five assists at Humboldt.
SCC was 18-for-46 from the field including 7-for-16 from three-point range and 5-for-10 from the free throw line.
Against conference rival Alta-Aurelia in Rockwell City Friday, Jan. 12, SCC was led by Clark with 16 points while Neubaum scored eight and Jacob Nicholson added seven points and seven rebounds against the Warriors.
