While most of his classmates and schoolmates are out of basketball and wrestling, junior Ben Englin went in a different direction. Instead of representing South Central Calhoun on the hardwood or on the mat, Ben took to the waters for the Carroll High School swimming team.

Despite swimming for the Tigers, Englin is still a Titan, through and through.

Ben competed in the 2020 edition Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State Swimming Meet, which was held this past Saturday at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation & Wellness Center in Iowa City.

In a team consisting of Englin, Jonathan Dose, Philip Fohrenbach and Trevor Danner, Carroll finished with a time of 1:31.34 in the 200-yard free relay and hauled in a time of 3:21.61 in the 400-yard free relay.

These two times granted the Carroll relay team 20th place showings in both events.

At the district meet, held on Feb. 8 in Fort Dodge, Englin took part in the 50-yard freestyle (16th, 25.10) and 100-yard freestyle (13th, 55.69).
