Gilbert Hildreth

Gilbert L. Hildreth, 75, of Rockwell City passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Palmer-Swank Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin at 3:00 PM and burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Sadie Hildreth (Justin Cswercko) of Fort Dodge and Tyler Hildreth (Brandy Smith) of North Liberty; grandchildren, Andre Jones, Alexis Kenney, Brooke Hildreth, and Zoey Hildreth; great-grandchild, Greyson Kenney; and siblings, Craig (Julie) Hildreth of Lytton, Cheryl (James) Johnson of Sac City, and Joy (Kevin) Monahan of Rockwell City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Doris (Walters) Hildreth; twin brother, Galen Hildreth; and a niece Emily.

Gilbert Lee Hildreth was born May 27, 1948 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Rockwell City; graduating from Rockwell City High School in 1966. He furthered his education at Iowa Central Community College and Mankato State University. Gilbert worked with his father for ten years with Chief Bins. He also worked as a dispatcher for Decker Trucking for a number of years. He became self-employed as a general contractor and worked for Proliant in Lytton. In his spare time, he could be found watching numerous sporting events. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved the Braves and the Broncos. Gilbert was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He would boast of their bowling accomplishments and sporting event successes to anyone who would listen.

Family requests that attendees wear their Iowa Hawkeye gear to the service.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
