Lake City Alumni Association Recognizes “Blue Ribbon Teachers”

The Lake City Alumni Association recognized the elementary teachers by presenting them checks for $100 to help reimburse the teachers for their personal expenses for their classrooms. Teachers turned in copies of receipts for their expenses and received up to $100 back. The Association is aware of the financial burden that sometimes falls upon an elementary teacher and wanted to offer assistance as a way of thanks for their commitment to the education of our students. 25 teachers took advantage of the offer. The same day – the South Central Calhoun Elementary was named a 2014 National Blue Ribbon school. One of four Iowa schools recognized for demonstrating overall academic excellence or for their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
