For those who make the drive to attend any youth wrestling tournaments that are held near and far, to camp out on the bleachers and cheer for their kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. The underlying fact is that they are witnessing the future of wrestling within the state of Iowa firsthand.

That underlying fact holds no exception within South Central Calhoun. More importantly for SCC, that the future is pretty bright.

Overall, 13 kids who don the purple and black of the Titans will go on to the Iowa AAU Kids State Championships and Iowa AAU Super PeeWee State Tournament.

The Iowa AAU State Championships will be held on Feb. 29 and March 1 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, while the Iowa AAU Super PeeWee State Tournament is set for March 7 and March 8 at the Young Arena in Waterloo.

Going to the Kids State Tournament are Karson Wuebker, David Legore, Brock Nattress, Cooper Nattress and Zach Trott.

At the district meet, held on Feb. 9, Wuebker and Cooper Nattress took top billing in their brackets. Brock Nattress placed third in his bracket, while Legore and Trott landed fourth place finishes in their respective brackets.

Also competing at the district meet were Curtis Bullock, Tucker Friemuth, John Patterson, Keegan Soard and Cotley Timmerman.

Representing SCC at the PeeWee State Tournament will be Hayden Essing, Cash Freimuth, Sawyer Riley, Brooks Stuart, Bryce Stuart, Madix Stuart, Huxley VanHorn and Korbin VanHorn.
