A statewide architecture firm has expressed interest in reviewing South Central Calhoun School District’s building needs and presenting options to address the problems.
Such a project, which would include three days of workshops, with each day focusing on a different building, and some design work, would cost about $25,000, SCC Superintendent Jeff Kruse said July 18. Half of that cost would be applied to the cost to design the project, he said.
“It was a little higher than I expected,” he said. “Is the board really committed to a project or not? It seems like the (facilities) committee is floundering right now.”
Board members said they wondered if the facilities committee’s problems are actually the board’s fault. Perhaps, board member Ryan Hildreth said, the board didn’t give the facilities committee specific enough instructions. Some committee members thought they had been asked to serve on a group studying the need for another gymnasium in the district, while others thought they were there to look at the district’s broader needs.
