Before you know it, Titan Field in Lake City will see the return of Friday night football. Before the game, the purple and white clad South Central Calhoun football team walks out of the locker room inside SCC High School, and approaches the field from the northeast corner. Once their hype music hits, they take to the gridiron as they prepare for individual player introductions.

For the player, parent and supporter, it’s exhilarating. By the time kickoff has commenced, the SCC fans are at a fever pitch and ready to cheer on the Titans.

Although the first regular season game is less than a month’s time away, there’s still work to be done and practice to be had.

SCC head football coach Bryan Case and his staff will work to ready the Titans for their latest campaign, as the annual Titan Football Camp begins next week at the SCC Football Practice Fields in Lake City.

The seventh grade through 12th grade camp will start bright and early on Monday and conclude with the Saturday Morning Blitz, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon on August 8. From Monday through Friday, the camp starts at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 11:30 a.m.

Camp check-in starts at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, and there is a fee for players to attend the camp. There is an additional fee for compression shirts for high school players.

The SCC coaching staff also welcomes walk-in registrations.

In between the conclusion of the Friday camp and Saturday Morning Blitz, the Titans will hold their annual Toughman Contest, which begins at 5:30 p.m. on August 7 at the SCC Football Practice Fields in Lake City.

The public is welcome to attend the Friday evening event, which places the Titans into several smaller teams to conduct various drills and challenges. The winning team receives the title of “Toughman Contest Champions” and t-shirts to go along with their bragging rights.
