Stewart pedals his way across Iowa

Independent candidate for United States Senate Rick Stewart isn’t pulling into towns around the state in a Ford, Chrysler, or Cadillac.

                Nope. He’s riding his bicycle.

                Stewart stopped at the Monitor, Oct. 9, for a few minutes to talk about why he’s running for the US Senate seat and his goals if elected to the position.

                “I’m running for Senate basically because I’m a normal Iowan,” he said. “I’m tired of what’s going on in Washington.” Stewart, born in Postville, grew up in Maquoketa.

                After college and working at the Maquoketa Police Department and as a carpenter, Stewart started what he calls “the most famous small Iowa company no one’s heard of,” Frontier Cooperative Herbs, which began as a hobby.
