Lohrville hoping to trade shoes for a trail
Lohrville officials are working to raise the approximately $33,000 needed to expand the town’s walking trail from three-quarters of a mile to 1.3 miles.
The city has about $7,500 already for the project, owns some of the land and is working to secure an easement for the remainder of the trail expansion, City Clerk Kris Kavanaugh said earlier this month.
The expansion would take the walk trail all the way to Highway 175.
Next up, the city is working with Funds2Orgs out of Orlando, Fla. The organization pay $0.40 per pound of gently used and new shoes, Kavanaugh said. The city’s goal is to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes between May 1 and Aug. 1, with hopes of getting $1,000 in exchange, she said.
